live maine steamer clams

salted butter, divided

Instructions
Inspect and wash clams thoroughly. Meanwhile, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat in a large skillet or pot.
Cook garlic until fragrant, or about 30-40 seconds.
Slowly add wine to the pan. Bring mixture to a boil; stir.
Add clams, water, and remaining butter. Cover the skillet or pot and cook the clams until they open. This should take about 8-10 minutes.
Remove from heat. Sprinkle clams with parsley, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, if desired. Serve with lemon wedges.
